With his fans anticipating the release of his next full-length project, Save Yourself, J.A.E ‘s provides a complimentary treat of a ride that is rated E for everyone that many levels of musical enthusiasts can sit back and enjoy. The music video for his single “RIDE-the greatest modern indie love story never debuted on television-is directed, filmed and edited by Joel Mulbah. This isn’t your regular shmegular type of music video, nor song, and the high video quality scenes in accordance to each individual energy flux that the song purposely delivers gives the viewers a true ride.
“If you tryna be a Queen, then just holla at a King.”
The banger-vibey fusion of the track’s composition competes with the quality in terms of stealing the show. “RIDE” starts off with J.A.E in a low melodic tone flowing across the beat he made like a young Waldorfian Poseidon, orating his raw feelings for the love interest of the music video in perfect polymerization with the drums that kick in for the total hypnotic sound. The lyricism of J.A.E’s verse as addressed to the love interest sounds so conversational with the undeniably splendid vibe of the instrumental, that one becomes absorbed in the track and music video until the second layer enters the fray. The accompanying vocals by the female and male voices featured in the break/hook respectively help elucidate the fact that “RIDE” is not a common boom-bap style Hip Hop track, not a common trap Hip Hop track, but a J.A.E Hip Hop track.
“There’s no stopping me once I find my delivery/
And now that I can do it consistently? I’m starting a killing spree”
Not diminishing in stereo quality but flipping the track in sharp versatility, the first instrumental of the song abruptly morphs into J.A.E (durag spiffy) showcasing the full-force of his rap ability under dark blue florescent lights and his LoveYourself brand in gorgeous placement behind him. J.A.E may give you a relaxing vibe, but he is no one to be trifled with lyrically when it comes to the art of rap. In the same conversational, singular-thread pen game he was able to deliver his first verse with, the punchlines and wordplay seamlessly string together in his electrifying verse to showcase that the kid can really spit his shit.
The quaint funnel from the come-down from such a verse leads into the tailored instrumental for the outro, the hook, and the conclusion of the escapade with J.A.E and the love interest in a sweet ending.
Love. Power. Purpose.
J.A.E in general, with not just this music video alone, is one to watch as he plans to continue to display his versatile excellence in full force to deliver more rides we can enjoy.
