It’s your boy Maurice Valentino, and I’m here today just to give a brief guide for entrepreneurs trying to do their thing. I’ve started a couple of businesses myself and I’ve made good waves and good ground with them thanks to certain tools that have worked accordingly for the long-term success of my partners and I. If you’re starting out freelancing or being an entrepreneur making your own salary, here are a few tools for your phone that can help you out on the road.
1.) I’M THE PLUG (Extended Charging Ports + Portable Charger):
Your phone will be your best friend during the modern entrepreneurship age. Trust me. I’ve done serious damage with a Pokeball backpack and a charged smartphone. From the Dollar General or any local store you should buy a cheap extended charger port as well as a portable charger.
In areas that you are traveling when many people are around you, and only a few ports are available, the extended charging ports will become handy to you as well as the portable charger to make sure that your work does not go undone or halted by a low battery. Or, so you can continue to edit documents via phone while still being in the DM’s of that person on Twitter you’ve been trying to bag for months. Being the plug and having whatever plugs you need can definitely assist you better on your journey.
2.) ATM (“At the Moment” Instant Cash Transfer Devices):
Count it up, count it up, COUNT IT. Be serious about your bread by downloading applications that can instantly transfer your money when you want, when you need it. Cash app and Venmo are easy, but I personally prefer Cash App because I get the money instantly with only a 1% charge.
It’s like JG Wentworth: it’s my money and I need it NOW. Also, PayPal has a new system you can access with your phone in which you can get money instantly sent from your PayPal account to your debit card almost instantly for only a $0.25 fee. For example, with working my entrepreneurship venture in which PayPal was the payment method, I knew that I needed my paycheck in the next two days. By setting up the PayPal feature, I was able to get over $100 in a couple of minutes instead of waiting 2-3 business days and even over the weekend.
3.) I GOT THE KEYS (Google Drive Handy):
We often think that we have to be in front of our computers to complete important deliverables. This is not the most true thing, as Google Drive contains ways to save documents, edit documents, create documents, share documents, send digital media and continue collaborative projects like you was in front of your computer. You actually have the keys to your success WHENEVER you need. Therefore, when you go on the train or on a trip, you can continue that business document by yourself in real time. You don’t have to make excuses of “I’ll send it when I get home” when you can press a few buttons and save 2-4 hours. I remember when I did an entire pitch to an investor when at a networking event and was able to pull the digital files and documents from my drive instantly for proof of my words. I got the investment because of this handy factor.
4.) “I’M SORRY MISS…I’M SORRY, WHAT WAS YOUR NAME AGAIN? (The Importance of Business Cards):
Vistaprint can be your best friend. Yes, you can give people your phone number on the spot but 9/10 individuals will forget what your name was saved as when they leave. A business card, only an investment of no more than $25 on Vistaprint, can brand you more than you believe. Just like not having a resume for a job application is taboo, going to network or being an “influencer” with other entrepreneurs and not having business cards is taboo in public. Vistaprint even has templates to help you design them extremely easy, even if you aren’t a graphic designer, and the shipping process does not take as long as one would think.
5.) ALL I NEED IS ONE NOTEPAD (Digital or Physical):
Life gets very busy and your mind goes haywire sometimes as an entrepreneur trying to remember all you have to do. The power of the written word cannot be understated. No matter how busy my weeks get as an entrepreneur with different ventures, I always take the time to write down my small checklist of what to do today regarding small tasks for my business either on a notepad or digital notepad pre-installed on my smartphone. Although I may not get every single thing done, the task list helps me structure which tasks I can knock out such as sending certain emails, scheduling, meetings reminders, remembering which clients to contact again, and more. This organization coming from a frazzled guy like me definitely kept my entrepreneurship ventures going and prosperous.
6.) 4AM-Or Whatever Time of the Night (Boomerang + Scheduling Message Device):
Shout out to all my insomniac and narcoleptic men and women out there. The mind of an entrepreneur can go in five different directions and most many times it can jog your memory that you have to message somebody or send them an email. However, this thought can jog your mind when the time to send it is inconvenient, such as 1:00am or 4:00am in the morning. With the application Boomerang as well as certain Android phones and applications, one is able to schedule text messages and emails even when they’re up at the butt crack of dawn or the dead in the night. If you are able to do this, Boomerang helps out your scheduling ability to knock out all your communication messages at once.
7.) I GET MONEY-Everyday in Fact (Sweatcoin + Passive Income)
We are getting in a digital age of currency. If you are an entrepreneur or budding entrepreneur, you will be moving around a lot and may not have the time for a sit down 9-5 job. When realizing this, I began to build passive income using applications like Sweatcoin and Acorn that made money for me while I relaxed or was out and about. For like $5 for applications like Acorn, or some cryptocurrency platform (especially with a bot that trades for you you), you can essentially build wealth while you go about your business. My business partners were able to make money in the hundreds and thousands. While this does not sound like a lot in today’s economy, a little goes a long way in financial management of extra sources of income.
8.) I’M ALWAYS STRAPPED (The Power of the Backpack):
If you’re an entrepreneur about to be in the field, you always want to stay strapped—with your entrepreneur tools. For the lifestyle, it’s not about looking fly all the time or looking wavy, it’s about being functional no matter where you touch down. Regardless of it you use public transportation or have a vehicle, a versatile, spacious backpack can help you out a lot. It can hold toiletries if you’re going to be on the road for days, food for travels so that you don’t blow your money for food on the road, water bottles, promotional materials for your business, and any work that you have to do. My Pokeball backpack is huge, and was able to carry hoodies, laptops, food, etc. without breaking my back. I also had a Targus back which could do the same. Both of them help my chargers and other entrepreneur tools that I needed.
9.) WHY YOU ALWAYS PROCRASTINATING? (SCORE + Loaded Contacts):
As an entrepreneur, things will come up and you shouldn’t be as arrogant in asking for help. With the powerful contacts and network that I have amassed, I have been able to immediately message, Facetime/videochat, or call upon these individuals wherever I need who have skills in what I need done. SCORE is a 501 nonprofit organization that provides free business mentoring services to prospective and established small business owners in the United States. SCORE is absolutely legendary in terms of their consulting services. I have used them to grow my business to the next level without even physically having to meet them, which is crazy. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth for my idea and business ventures…all for free. Make your network and phone full of contacts work for you and stop procrastinating. Ask not, and you shall receive not! You never know who knows what you don’t know and need until you ask.
10.) PLAY MY MUSIC (Playlists + The Entrepreneur Workflow):
Have them headphones handy. Social media is cool, but sometimes you have to be offline and lock-in. Nothing gets the workflow or travel vibes going smooth like a well-orchestrated playlist. You can either make one that caters to your own, but also check out The Demo Tape’s playlists-there is literally something for everyone! You don’t always have to be so picky, as you can lose yourself in the flow of work with a playlist that simply flows. I have energetic playlists, vibey playlists, and lyrically motivating playlists for me to chug through and get the work done when I need it.
This is not all there is, as other entrepreneurs can attest to, but it should help you starting off and to increase your productivity. Stay prepared, my friends.
