The Most Anticipated Games Coming Out Of E3

To kick off each summer, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, otherwise known as E3, comes around. Upcoming games and systems are shown off in a three-day event, which is essentially video game heaven for nerds. This year, I wanted to spotlight a few games that caught my eye and will be the topic of discussion when they finally release to the public.

Gears of War 5 (2019)

Now, Gears of War is one of my favorite series in video games. I remember when the first one dropped and I was sleeping on it cause my momma wouldn’t buy it for me, then the homie let me borrow it. I think it was the first time since Kingdom Hearts that I was blown away by a video game. The storytelling was amazing, and all the action was bar none the best I had seen since Resident Evil (at that time). If you played Gears of War 4, you know that they were setting this up by the way the game ended. The storytelling in this game is near movie-like, and the graphics make it all the more cinematic for players. I’m ready for it.

Halo 6: Infinite (2019 or Next-Gen system)

I’ll be the one to say it - Halo hasn’t been a main attraction since Halo 3. IYKYK, Halo 3 had us staying up all night not doing homework in high school. Since Bungie stepped away from making Halo games, all the ones since have been lackluster and I’ve had no reason to play them, let alone buy them. The way that videos games are changing with the game-play and along with the graphics, Halo 6 will have to incorporate all of that especially if it’s going to come out on the next-gen gaming systems. With games like Fortnite and Call of Duty still being at the top, they’re going to have to pull out all the tricks to get us back into the series.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate (12/7/18)

Whew, tradition never changes. For the longest time, I’ve been saying “Why don’t they just put everyone in Super Smash Bros instead of taking people out?” I guess they’ve just been waiting for the right time to do it, as there are 68 characters in this game; every single one, even the DLC characters. For month, I’ve been going back and forth on if i should buy a Nintendo Switch and I think now the time has come. I have a lot of questions about how the future will hold Super Smash Bros. as a series is concerned, but as far as this game goes, I’m pumped and I’m ready. I’m ready for all fades.

Spider-Man (9/7/2018)

Spider-Man games have been mid for the longest time. We used to not be able to even touch the ground with him on those older games. I feel like the other games never had a true story behind them; it was always just some “beat the bad guy” ending and nowhere to go from there. From the minute I saw a trailer for this game though, it reminded me of the open-world concept that GTA has. In a time now where superhero movies are at an all-time high, an amazing game to go along with the movies is even better.

Jump Force (2019)

This game is long overdue. I was wondering if it would be centered around a story or fighting when they finally decided to put comic book characters into a game. Being that there so many anime characters out there, I could see the roster being 20+. Personally, I would like to see characters from Attack On TItan, Deathnote (which we seen in the trailer), Seven Deadly Sins, and most importantly Full Metal Alchemist.

Kingdom Hearts 3 (1/29/19)

We’re here now, so let’s talk. I’ve been waiting on this goddamn game since 2006. If you’ve ever played Final Fantasy games, Kingdom Hearts game are made by the same people and these games take years and years to get done. I think all across the board, men and women are ready for this game to be out. To be honest, I even know more women who are pumped for this game than men. This game is also going to be on the Xbox One. Now, I don’t have to rush and get a PS4 just yet; Kingdom Hearts & Kingdom Hearts 2 were both on PS2 only. All in all, I’m ready for this game. It’s been 12 years and I’m finally ready to get this over with.

The Last of Us Part 2 (late 2018 to early 2019)

When you think of games that have amazing storylines, The Last of Us has to be mentioned. When part one was released in 2013, I didn’t know if I was watching a movie or playing a game - it was that cinematic. The story mode could have been a bit longer, especially since no one is really here for the multiplayer section of the game. When you look at certain games like this series that are mostly “single-player” driven, the story mode of the game should really be all their is. Aside from that, Naughty Dog has another banger and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
