Holidays like Christmas and Valentine day made me realize one thing: men do not know how to shop in lingerie stores. Buying a woman lingerie will be intimidating the first couple of times because there are many aspects of lingerie. Lingerie includes: bra, panty, garter belt, robes, bralettes, stockings, and slips. I am here to make your shopping experience easier.
Know Who You Are Shopping For
Are you shopping for someone you love, or someone you are just trying to impress? This is important because I do not think you should shop, or spend the same between the two. When shopping for someone you are trying to impress, you can literally buy them 5 for $28 panties and call it a day. Shopping for someone you love, is different and a lot more in depth. So please know who you are shopping for.
Why Are You Shopping?
What is the occasion? Different occasions call for different lingerie items. Valentines day, for example, is a different than a birthday gifts. For example, if you are getting a “just because” gift, you might want your woman to wear your favorite color. For Valentines day, your woman probably would want to wear red, pink, or white. The occasion will help you decide on what items she would need.
Have An Idea Already In Mind
Having an idea already in mind will also help your shopping experience. There are many aspects to lingerie and there will be many items to chose from. Before entering the store, try envisioning how you want your woman to look. Do you want her in just bra and a panty or do you want some type of robe/outer wear? Having this idea will give you great idea of what you are looking for.
What Does She Like?
Fellas, a thong is not the same thing as a hiphugger. You should take note on the things your woman wears and do not wear. Some women prefer not to wear thongs or cheekies because of the cut, so it’s best to not purchase them. More than likely, the lingerie store you shop at carries more than one style that you can choose from. Also, it is important to take note on which colors she wears the most or perhaps her favorite color. If you are purchasing a bra and panty just because, you would want something she can wear more than once. Does she wear padded bras, wireless, unlined bras or lightly lined bras? These are things that you should know before stepping into a lingerie store.
Know Her Sizes
This is probably the most important thing. What size does she wear in bra, panty and clothes? This is important because a 34C is not the same bra size as a 36C. Just because she wear a medium in bottoms does not mean she wears a medium in her tops. This helps the sales specialist know which items will look good on her and which items will not. This will also help you to have more options to choose from. Before coming into the store, take a peak at her bras and panties
Have A Budget
HAVE A DAMN BUDGET. You need to price your budget before you begin shopping. Lingerie is not cheap, unless you are at Target. The cheapest bra at Victoria’s Secret is $34.50 while the most expensive is $78.50…and this does not include panties. It is OK to not have a lot of money to spend because the sales specialist can accommodate.
