With the release of his highly anticipated ‘This Is It” mixtape just a few weeks ago, it was only right to put the spotlight on one person for the next edition of Charm City Come Up — Taé Wilson.
Taé’s first claim to fame was the release of video single, “iPhone Boomin” in March 2016. He followed up this hot streak with the release of his next hit single, “Together” feat. Dice Swag, in April of 2017, an upbeat, summer anthem about sticking with your people regardless of the circumstance. After the release of various singles, he dropped his debut mixtape, “Some How Some Way” in September 2017. This mixtape included hot tracks such as, the aforementioned “iPhone Boomin,” “Rolling Stones,” “Payback” and “I Ain’t Perfect.” This tape embodied a positive energy that applied a lot of pressure on the city towards the end of the year.
After the release of his first mixtape, Taé kept the foot on the gas when he and Dice Swagg linked up with fellow Baltimore rapper Bandhunta Izzy on a remix to “Together” in July 2018. Fast forward to February 8th, 2019 and Taé brought in his highly anticipated sophomore mixtape, “This Is It”. “This Is It” was a slick mixtape that displayed a lot of versatility, tracks such as, “Stop Askin”,”Approaching Me” and “Look What You Made Me Do” captured a melodic, uptempo vibe while tracks such as “Mr. Nice Guy” and “Gang Wit Me” showed Wilson’s ability to provide gritty street rhymes.
After a hot start to 2019, it is clear that Wilson has a lot of fire power. With much success up to this point, one thing is clear for Taé Wilson — the future is bright.
